Q: Why do some info threads have red higlighted text?
A: In preparation for making this site, I started re-reading the series, starting with DC (of course). There are still some things I'm not entirely sure about, and that's what's in red in the info threads.
Q: Can we have a map of the land? The descriptions in the board info is kind of confusing.
A: I'm working on scanning in the maps from the books at the moment; once I get access to a good scanner I'll put them up. =-)

Q: What is double-posting?
A: It's when you post two times in a row in the same thread. If you want to add to an idea/storyline and no-one has yet posted after you, modify your old post instead of double-posting.
Q: How often should I be posting?
A: As often as possible for the RP threads, but only for threads you're actually in (don't go joining or starting random threads just to get posts in), and don't post if your post doesn't affect other chars or doesn't further the thread's plot.
Q: How do you get stars under your name?
A: it's completely based on the number of posts you've made (FYI most posts in any of the boards in the 'General' category don't count toward the number of posts you've made)
0-4---Newbie
5-9---Deman
10-19---Blighter*
20-39---Dwarf**
40-79---Human***
80-159---Elf****
160---Dragon*****
320---Legend******

Q: Should my username match my character's name?
A: It can, if you want, but it's not necessary. And that would get kind of messy if you have more than one character.
Q: How many characters can I make?
A: Technically, you can make up to four. However, we do not advise jumping in and starting with more than one character right off the bat - if you do so we are likely to only accept one and wait for the other(s) until we see you are a good RPer. Also, for the fourth character, we are not likely to accept it unless you have a good reason for playing it (another RPer has asked to create it for an RP with them, a canon spot needs to be filled, etc.) Otherwise, consider three to be the max.
Q: Can I have chars on more than one side?
A: Yes, there are no limitations as to what sides your chars can be on.
Q: Can I make an [insert character species here]?
A: Read the races thread to see what species we accept.
Q: How long does it take to get a char accepted?
A: We're not sure yet. It depends on how good the bio is and on how active the staff is. In theory, it could take anywhere from a day to two months.
Q: Can I make a char with special powers?
A: We will not allow 'powers' that are anything more special than highly-keen senses or magic ability.

Q: How is the passing of time taken?
A: When the site gest big enough, assume each month IRL is a season in the RP. You are not required to adhere strictly to this, but you shouldn't be RPing somthing that happened a year ago RP time six or so IRL months after the thread started, either.
Until then I may have time be free-form, allowing people to post in multiple 'times' at once (to avoid character clustering) as long as everyone keeps the timeline straight.
Q: I notice you have the Upper World landmarks accounted for; how is RPing in the Lower World done?
A: There are some sub-boards that specifically include or even strictly are Lower-World areas; besides that, you can assume (for the most part) that there will be cave accesses in most Upper World areas, especially where there are mountains, so to RP in the Lower World just make your thread in the parallel Upper World area.
Q: Can I kill characters?
A: Depends on the situation. You can do basically anything you want with NPCs. If you're talking about killing your char or someone else's, it has to be approved of by whoever is involved as well as by the staff.
Q: What are NPCs?
A: NPC stands for Non-Player Character. These are 'minor' characters in the fact that they don't have anyone truly claiming them with an active char bio. For the most part, these are usually characters who only appear in one or two threads just to add some flavor, as being limited to Player Characters the whole time can get kinda boring.
Officially, any NPC can be controlled by anyone. However, it is a good idea to ask someone if you can control an NPC they introduced, as some people can be very protective of 'their' NPCs. Also, for this site, we will not let canon character NPCs be controlled by anyone but staff.
Please do not let an NPC you create become an extra Player Character that doesn't have a bio. NPCs are support characters only. If you use an NPC too much without creating a bio for them, beware: a staffer may come in and kill them.
Q: How do you want the syntax of the RP?
A: You should RP in the third person (don't use "I" "me" etc. unles it's in a char's speech) and in the past tense ("flew" not "flies"; again exception for when a char is speaking) just like the AoF books. It's just easier to read =-)
