As almost every species is assumed to be sentient to some degree, every species has its own language, as a general rule of thumb. Humans, being so populated and spread out, have multiple languages. Parl is by far the most widely spoken, being the hominids' language of trade and diplomacy.
It is assumed that the aquatic creatures also have their own languages, but since the medium for communication is diffent (water instead of air), this is only speculation.
There are 'common' languages not atached to individual species; there is a general 'beast' toungue, as well as a language for the birds.
The level of sentience in a species helps dictate what competency in language they have; songbirds, dogs, and rodents, for example, have much less capabilities than wolves, cats, and vultures. (dogs are here placed lower since years of domestication by humans have made them highly dulled from their wolf counterparts; you can see the same effect happening to the dragons as well in DC)
It is fairly common to meet more-sentient individuals who can speak three or more languages. Some languages are of course easier to learn than others; feline and drakine, for example, are so similar that a cat and a dragon who've never been exposed to the other language before can be communicating with each other fluently within minutes. Another similar (though lesser) comparison is between beast and canine.
partial list of known languages:
Parl
drakine
elvish
dwarf
blighter
feline
canine
beast
avian
While all posts are in English, different text styles will be used to show the different languages: drakine is regular and Parl is bold. We will assign colors to the other languages as seems necessary*. Also, all thoughts, whether within a character's mind or (in some drakine cases) broadcast to others, should be italic.
*elvish: 036630 - dwarf: 543210 - avian: yellow
