Elves (DA II)
Among the hominid species, the elves are probably the most solitary in comparison, preferring living alone or in small groups as opposed to villages and cities.
As well as hair, elves have some type of plant life growing from their head. The type varies from elf to elf. Examples seen include ivy, grass, thorns, and cattails.
Elves are long-lived creatures, but when they do die, they are buried upright; a tree grows from the burial site/mound.
Of the hominids, the elves are the most proficient at art, music, and magic.
With the small exception of some shelters, the elves live entirely in the Upper World
Humans
Though not the strongest or smartest hominids, the humans are the most energetic and resourceful.
They are also the most adventurous and prolific of the hominoids: "Men; breed like rats and roam like wolves" (Djer, DC II)
They are so prolific that half-bloods are not unheard of; in fact, the pure-blood elf population has gotten quite small in recent years.
Humans are the (naturally) shortest-lived of the hominids, usually not aging above 70 years, though 100 is possible.
Humans live primary in the Upper World, though having settlements extend into the Lower World is not uncommon.
Dwarves (DC II, DA III)
The two largest dwarven societies are the warmongering Wheel of Fire and the trade-based Charter Company of the Diadem.
A sort of glowing moss grows in dwarves' beards, which they tend to by spraying their beards with water periodically. A heathly glow is taken to indicate status; dwarves will even try to add gold dust or even (in rich cases) gems to add to their beard's sparkle. The lichen dies in sunlight, though, so dwarves keep their faces masked when above ground.
Dwarves are (naturally) long-lived hominids, years numbering in the hundreds. Still, a dwarf of 600 is comperable to a human of 100.
Dwarves live primarily in the Lower World, though they are quite comfortable above ground as well.
Demen (mentions in DO)
Demen have long skulls, almost to the point of havign snouts. They also have horns growing out of their temples, one on each side, and a row of spikes coming out of their back, down their spine.
The demen live entierly in the Lower World.
Blighters (DC III, mentions in DO)
Blighters are a lot like humans; differences include that blighters have longer faces, longer arms, and are hairy all over.
Blighters were the first to get the wheel, and as such their empires in the south flourished for a long time before the Age of Iron surpassed them.
Blighters are equally comforatble living in both the Upper World and the Lower.
